Have you ever tried to have a conversation with someone and felt like they never really understood what you were trying to say?
Have you every tried to talk with someone and realized that they didn’t really care about what you were saying, they just wanted to give you their opinion?
That should not be your experience when talking with a real estate agent! Why? Because you are about to make some very important decisions and you need to be heard!
Communication means – Two way process of reaching mutual understanding, in which participants not only exchange (encode-decode) information, news, ideas and feelings but also create and share meaning. In general, communication is a way of connecting people or places.
When you’re searching for an agent, lots of people say – “find the busiest agent in town and go with them – they know what they are doing.” It’s probably true that they know how to do their job. It may not be true that you will be able to create a shared meaning with them regarding what you need!
Look for an agent who has your best interests in mind, who understands what you want or need and who is willing to work for you, not just their commission.
Find someone you connect with. Most agents know how to do their job and, if there’s something about your transaction that’s new to them, they know who to ask. Knowing your job and connecting with you are two different things. A good real estate agent should be able to do both.
